On behalf of Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater, we wish to thank you for sharing your time and talents with us and the Community, whether on stage or behind stage, or even by donation.
I've been cast in a show... now what?

Our goal is to produce the highest quality show possible. We must all work together to achieve this. Listed below are essential guidelines to reaching that objective, as well as helpful information to those new to Fantasy Playhouse.
Please attend all rehearsals. We have a very small time window in which to put our production together. Every rehearsal will count and needs to be used wisely. As a result we ask that you have no more than (4) excused absences. We understand that emergencies may arise, and we will address those as they come up. The rehearsal schedule is subject to change, so if we ask you to come one of these times when you originally were not scheduled and have no prior conflict listed, please do so happily.
Please be at rehearsal on time and be picked up on time. (5 minutes before you are scheduled!) Parents of children under 12 should come into the building to pick up their children. We will not allow them to wait in the parking lot. Children will only be released to parents. If someone other than a parent will be picking up a child, please let the Producer know.
Keep our rehearsal space clean. Whatever you bring in is your responsibility to throw away or take home with you. NO FOOD OR DRINK IS ALLOWED IN THE LOBBY AREA. We know that rehearsals will infringe on your dinner time. You are welcome to bring dinner with you as long as you clean up after yourself.
Please don’t be a distraction during rehearsals. Keep noise in the hallway at a minimum. If you must talk to friends, whisper or go to the another part of the building such as the break room (located at the back of the building.) But most especially, please don’t be a distraction in the rehearsal room when someone else is practicing. This includes, discussions louder than a whisper, running in the bleachers, and excessively loud game play. Basic rule of thumb : If you don’t want someone doing what you’re doing when you are rehearsing, don’t do it.
Keep yourself healthy. This is of vital importance as we get close to the production. Take your vitamins, eat well-balanced meals, get plenty of rest and wash your hands frequently. Try not to break any bones. This will be especially important when we move into the VBC. If you are not familiar with the VBC crud, ask anyone who has performed there.
Costumes. Fantasy provides all of your costumes, including shoes, tights, hats, gloves., etc. You may be asked to do some shopping so that you will have a correct fit, but you will be reimbursed for your expenses. Be sure the costumer has seen you for your measurements. When you try on shoes, plan to wear them for a while to make sure they are comfortable. Some of you may be asked to come to the costume room more than once.
Please do not cut or color your hair without permission from the head Hair person.
Expenses. We do not require any fee to be in our production. However, there are several optional expenses
School Shows, when we have them, usually fall on 9am and 12pm. A brunch is provided to the cast free of charge. You will however need to be excused from work or school for the day. Fantasy provides the excuse form, but it is up to you to turn them in
Ticket availability will dwindle fast. If you want tickets, get them now. All family members and friends are required to have a ticket to attend one of our performances. (Family members living in the cast members household will be invited to the dress rehearsal at no charge). A ticket order form will be given out at the organizational meeting and can be turned in at any time. Tickets may also be purchased by calling our office at 256-539-6829 during our normal business hours. (9am – 5pm Mon. – Fri.)
TECH WEEK is the most important rehearsal time of all. NO CAST MEMBER MAY MISS ANY TECH WEEK REHEARSAL FOR ANY REASON. Parking may be a problem. Arrive early at the VBC Playhouse to find some place to park. Because of the new Huntsville City Ordinance, you will receive parking passes usable to park in either the Meadow Gold, or parking deck parking lots at the VBC. These passes are to be used only by cast and crew for the duration of the show. Abuse of this parking pass privilege will result in all theater groups having it revoked. Because we don’t want this, all unused parking passes MUST be turned in at the end of the show’s run.
CLOSED SET – This means NO VISITORS BACKSTAGE. Only cast members and working crew will be allowed to stay backstage. Ushers are not considered backstage crew members. We strive to maintain a safe and efficient environment. Parents and friends are asked to remain in the lobby after performances. Please adhere to this rule. Cast members are welcome to greet people in the lobby.
Cast Party – The time to thank the tech crew for all their hard work and welcome Fantasy newcomers will be after shows on the second Saturday. Cast and crew eat free, however we ask for a $3 donation for any guests. Fantasy will provide the meal. You will be asked to bring a dessert to share.
Move in – We plan on moving the set from the Fantasy Warehouse at 2113 Holmes Ave on Saturday before tech week starts. We need as many of adults and older teens as possible to help with move-in. The more help we get the sooner we can get it done. Please let us know if your family will be helping as we will provide lunch for the Move in crew.
I want to help backstage... now what?
